Professional Background

About Me

I’m Trinda Hosselkus, and I am truly honored to partner with individuals and families as they navigate the complexities of their unique healing journeys. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), and Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™), I pair deep clinical expertise with a warm, heart-centered presence. My academic foundation was built at Adams State University, where I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017 and served as co-president of the Chi Sigma Iota honor society. To provide the most effective care, I have pursued specialized training in EMDR, AcuDetox, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Since 2022, I have owned and operated my private practice, where I provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I believe that healing is most profound within safe, attuned relationships, and I am dedicated to meeting you exactly where you are while supporting meaningful, sustainable change.

Before transitioning to private practice, I served as an outpatient therapist in the non-profit sector, supporting those impacted by substance use and addiction. My clinical background also includes intensive work within Community Corrections (IRT), where I served as a therapist and case manager. Participating in Problem Solving Court Teams and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams at local Child Advocacy Centers has further refined my systems-based, collaborative approach.

My call to counseling began early in my life. While earning my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Adams State College, I volunteered as a victim advocate with the local Sheriff’s Office and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). My early career also saw me working as a Corrections Officer and a victim advocate at a local Crisis Center—experiences that deeply informed my understanding of crisis and recovery.

I was raised in a small Colorado town, the middle child of a law enforcement family. Those roots, combined with my own lived adversity, have given me a deep respect for the resilience of the human spirit. My mission is to create a safe sanctuary where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal at a pace that feels right for you.

Therapeutic Philosophy

I believe healing happens through safety, connection, and being deeply understood. Many come to therapy carrying experiences that taught them to stay guarded or silent about their pain. Here, I offer a space where you don’t have to rush, perform, or "be okay" to be supported.

My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and shaped by both clinical training and lived experience. I understand how adverse events shape our view of the world and that those early adaptations once served an important purpose.

Therapy isn’t about fixing what is "wrong." It’s about gently understanding what happened, restoring safety, and creating new ways of responding that support your healing and growth.

I take an integrative, relational approach to therapy. Whether working with adults, children, or families, I prioritize connection first, believing that meaningful change occurs within a trusting therapeutic relationship.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to presence. When things feel overwhelming, you don’t have to face them alone. As one guiding belief reflects:
"When you can’t look on the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark." Mad Hatter

Together, we move at your pace—building resilience, insight, and a deeper sense of self-compassion along the way.

Let’s begin your healing journey together.
