Healing is a collaborative journey that continues throughout your daily life. This space is mindfully gathered to offer you gentle tools and specialized support for veterans, families, and children. These resources are here to walk alongside you, honoring your pace and nurturing your inner strength.

Coping Skills & Integrative Resources

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, grounding our collaborative work in practical tools for healing. These integrative resources are designed to help you rediscover your resilience and sense of calm. Please note: for immediate crisis support, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.

Meditation Class Session

Paced Breathing

Shift your nervous system by inhaling for a count of four and exhaling for six. This rhythmic practice acts as a natural brake for stress, promoting physiological calm and a sense of safety.

Progressive Relaxation

Tension often rests in our muscles without our awareness. By slowly tightening and then gently releasing each group, you can invite a soothing sense of physical release and remind your nervous system that it is safe to soften and rest.

Self-Compassion

Try practicing the 'supportive touch' during difficult moments. Acknowledge your struggle with the same kindness and gentle patience you would offer to a dear friend or loved one.

Integrative Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being present without judgment. Gentle breathwork and brief meditations can help create a space free of shame and full of internal support.

Sandy Ripple Texture

Sensory Calming

Use your environment to soothe the nervous system. Focus on the feel of a smooth stone, a calming scent, or soft music to anchor your body in safety and the present moment.

Change Wooden Blocks

Safe Space Visualization

Imagine a place where you feel completely anchored and safe. Whether it is a real memory or a created sanctuary, return to this inner refuge whenever you need to remind your heart and body that you are protected and held in kindness.

This work is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Michael Sunich, whose passion for healing continues to guide and inspire this practice.

General Wellbeing & Coping Skills

Finding balance and emotional health is a daily practice. Below are key tools to help you stay grounded, resilient, and supportive of your own journey.

Mindful Grounding

Practice the 5-4-3-2-1 technique to anchor your senses in the present moment, calming the nervous system when feeling overwhelmed.

Sleep Hygiene & Rest

Establishing a gentle bedtime routine is essential for emotional restoration. Focus on darkening your space and practicing deep, rhythmic breathing.

AcuDetox: Reset & Balance

AcuDetox is a gentle ear acupuncture practice designed to help calm the nervous system and bring a quiet sense of balance to the body. It supports healthy sleep, manages stress, and can be a helpful tool for navigating cravings. AcuDetox is offered at Skyline Counseling and Consulting by a trained provider. It is free for enrolled clients and $5 per session for non-clients.

Supporting families through compassionate, trauma-informed guidance. We combine gentle limit-setting with brain-based tools to help your children feel safe, seen, and secure.

Understanding The Whole-Brain Child

Seeing your child's behavior as a communication of their needs changes everything. We draw from the principles of brain-based parenting to help families bridge the gap between big feelings and logical thinking. By prioritizing connection before redirection, we foster lasting healing and emotional safety for your little ones.

Strengthening Connection Through Play and Presence

Strong bonds are nurtured through respectful boundaries and joyful moments. I use an attachment-based, play-informed approach to strengthen connection, co-regulation, and joyful parent–child interactions. These relational tools help children feel safe while validating their emotional experience, making room for joy even in seasons of transition.

What Is Play Therapy?

Play therapy meetings children in their natural world of imagination and toys. It provides a safe space where child-led play becomes a way to express feelings, work through difficult events, and build resilience. Through this specialized therapeutic relationship, children learn to navigate their emotions and develop essential coping skills in a way that feels organic and supportive to their development.
